Introduction

The success of people in all aspects including sporting activities is directly influenced by the type of leadership in charge of managing the given group. Therefore, to be effective in the field of management, it is necessary to consider the nature of the audience and how meeting their demands can be attained. For instance, working in sports as a leader entails dealing with diverse individuals with different needs including advancing the level of their sporting skills. To remain relevant and administrate sports activities accordingly, I would have to be a democratic leader because it promotes an accommodating workplace suitable for improvements and personal development.

Democratic Leadership

Democratic leadership is a form of management that allows members of the group to participate in key processes including decision-making. It is termed a shared headship following its nature of enabling stakeholders to engage in various activities jointly. Generally, sporting activities encompass various roles ranging from direct coaching, recruiting players, developing staff members, and cultivating a proper club culture. By adopting a democratic leadership style it becomes easier to coordinate responsibilities effectively.

Since managing sports activities involves undertaking various activities such as direct coaching and organizing staff members, through a democratic approach it will be possible to delegate the tasks to other competent members of the team. For instance, having a supervisor in charge of players’ overall fitness, and another person responsible for recruiting club participants makes the processes easy (Kim et al., 2021). The system will facilitate easy and efficient management because all the personnel involved will deliver their best perspective to the group.

As a democratic leader, it will be easier to discuss with other stakeholders including the club captain significant decisions surrounding crucial plans for the club. Such engagement is essential in enabling the manager to establish a proper strategy to manage the people effectively. Moreover, unity is a key requirement in teams, through shared responsibilities individuals will be able to interact and develop a strong relationship with each other thus enhancing teamwork and togetherness in the group. Similarly, the leadership style is suitable for promoting a sense of belonging in the team. When people are allowed to contribute their opinions, especially during decision-making, they feel valued and become committed to delivering their best services to the group.

Sports are competitive events that require thorough dedication from all the people involved. The democratic approach is useful in nurturing the necessary talents since the respective individuals will be encouraged to work harder, therefore, promoting the development of new skills. Furthermore, the level of trust teams will have is significant in enabling the leader to maneuver in all aspects of management. For example, before spending finances on improving the group, members will collaborate and propose the best way to utilize the funding to benefit the club. However, despite the effectiveness of using democratic leadership to manage sports, the style is not suitable for tackling urgent issues that require quick decision-making. Therefore, to some extent, it can hinder efficiency in managing sports, especially when dealing with critical situations.

Proper procedures enhance workplace order which is important in promoting a culture of expectations that influenced the people’s involvement. Some of the processes encompass emergency directives, monitoring visitation, and work orders. It is upon the leader to determine the areas and the respective practices that suit them.
