Global Warming and Greenhouse Gases

Introduction

The cornerstone to life on humanity’s existence and preservation is environmental cleanup. Keeping the surroundings healthy helps in preserving species from extinction, decreases pollution, and safeguards the ecosystem and the planet’s environmental assets. Animals, plants, as well as humans all need air to survive. Since pollutants may hurt in a number of ways, fresh air is crucial for good health. Thus, areas with environmental protection issues can drastically lower average lifespan and health.

Definition of Global Warming

Global warming is the extremely rise in space temperatures from the previous years. It is mainly caused by greenhouse gas emissions that are emitted from the combustion of fossil fuels, excessive heat emission, and transportation. With the continued increase of human activities, greenhouse gases are released, causing a concentration of high temperatures in the atmosphere, leading to global effects. Global warming is a result of the increased greenhouse effect. Climate change will severely affect the future if action is not taken as early as possible. Climate change needs to be addressed like a crisis to raise awareness among people around the globe. Strict measures should be put in place to reduce the extreme release of ozone gases, reducing the effects of global warming.

Greenhouse Gasses

Greenhouse gasses cause the greenhouse effect by absorbing radiation emitted from the ground atmosphere, which is uniformly distributed. The emission of greenhouse gases significantly influences the energy flow of the Terrestrial ecosystem, and the variation of these gases results in significant climate change over time (Adegbeye et al., 2020). Due to industrialization, anthropogenic impacts such as burning fossil fuels and electricity have caused the concentration of atmospheric greenhouse gases to rise steadily. The primary greenhouse gases in the Earth’s gravity include nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, ozone layer gas, and fluorinated gases.

Carbon dioxide occupies the highest percentage of greenhouse gases, which occurs due to artificial activities of the exact nature. Methane is a hydrogenated gas that occurs naturally and from artificial activities such as crop production, farm animals, different farming practices, and the decomposition of biological material in municipal solid waste disposal sites. Nitrous oxide naturally exists in the Earth’s crust as part of the denitrification process, and its nitrous molecules have a longer lifetime in the atmosphere. It occurs due to sewage treatment burning of debris and biofuels in manufacturing, agricultural, and land-use processes.

Water vapor is the molecular state of water, and as the temperature of the Earth’s crust increases. More aqueous vapor evaporates from the underground reservoirs leading to increased accumulation in the Earth’s space (Janssens-Maenhout et al., 2019). Fluorinated gases are the least emitted greenhouse gases and are extensively dispersed after being released into the atmosphere. They are only eliminated from it by sunshine in the upper regions of the sky. Fluorinated gases are the most powerful, and it has the most extended lifetime in the atmosphere leading to high global warming capabilities. All these greenhouse gases contribute significantly to the rise of global warming all over the world.

Contribution of Greenhouse Gasses to Global Warming

Continuous emission of greenhouse gases has caused increased global warming, contributing in the following ways. Firstly, fossil fuels – the combustion of coal and crude oil results in the release of carbon dioxide and nitrous gas, the primary greenhouse gases (Xu et al., 2018). Continuous release of these gases causes increased atmospheric concentration, leading to global warming and adverse effects such as drought, higher chances of getting cancer, and heavy rains such as El Nino. Secondly, deforestation – it is cutting down trees without replacing them. Forests help regulate gases released by absorption, so carbon gases are released into space when trees are cut, and their concentration causes climate change (Xu et al., 2018). Thirdly, intensive farming – excessive use of farm inputs such as nitrogenous fertilizers causes increased release of nitrous gas, whereas livestock produces methane gas when processing food.

Continuous release of methane and nitrous gas causes concentration in the Earth’s space leading to global warming. Fourthly, waste disposal. Waste disposal techniques such as the release of untreated sewage and landfill cause the release of toxic greenhouse gases. The accumulation of these gases cause an increased greenhouse effect, eventually leading to a change in the climate. Poor waste disposal also can cause the death of submarine life.

In addition, electricity has a significant role in contributing to global warming. This is because excessive electricity consumption leads to increased combustion of fossil fuel and excessive production of carbon dioxide gas; hence, its accumulation leads to global climate change. Another significant activity contributing to global mining is overconsumption since it represents the worldwide transportation release and the excessive use of environmental resources. Finally, the mining and metal industries of the market are significant to current human life. Rocks and Metal alloys are the primary raw materials utilized in the construction, transporting, and manufacturing of products. This sector is in charge of releasing various greenhouse gas released from production through classification, hence its contribution to climate change is recorded.

Conclusion

Global warming has caused adverse global effects on biodiversity, humans, oceans, and weather, and to reduce the effects of global warming, there are ways to solve these problems. This includes using renewable sources of energy such as wind and biogas to replace fossil combustion, practicing controlled consumption and reuse, promoting improved resource management, preventing extensive deforestation, and improving the sustainability and productivity of farming. Finally, to reduce excessive carbon dioxide production, sustainable transportation and infrastructure need to be practiced by embracing public means of transport and the construction of low-energy houses. Climate change should be declared an epidemic to create awareness about its effects.
